Corps Policies & Guidelines
We are a team sport in which we all depend on each other and must adhere to the same policies, rules and guidelines.
Rules and zero tolerance policies have been established concerning issues like underage drinking and illegal drug use.
We expect every member to understand and accept these rules as you represent the Empire Statesmen. We are judged by our actions on and off the field.
General Rules and Guidelines
- Please bring necessities for showering after rehearsals on the day of competition.
- Please bring proper clothing, shoes, sun protection, hats, rain gear, etc.
- If you live out of town and need accommodations for your weekend stays, contact the office (585-266-2232).
- There is no drinking while in uniform at any time.
- There is no smoking while in uniform at any time.
- There is no offensive language in uniform or out of uniform at any time.
- Always be positive to one another and help each other.
Transportation
- For most competitions/practices, transportation will be provided.
- It is the member's responsibility to secure transportation to all corps practices, camps and meeting locations.
- A complete schedule of events will be provided as it becomes available.
Bus Rules
- Smoking is not permitted on the buses at any time.
- Large coolers must be stored underneath the buses in the storage compartments.
- Please be respectful of those members who choose to catch up on sleep or quiet time during long bus trips.
- No saving seats and 2 people to a seat (the bus is usually full).
Alcohol, Drugs and Sexuality
- Members of legal drinking age will not consume alcoholic beverages prior to a performance, during practice or while traveling between performance events.
- Underage drinking will not be tolerated.
- Illegal drug use of any kind is prohibited while you are a member of the Empire Statesmen.
- Each member will be asked to complete a medical release form. This form will include a list of prescribed medications and appropriate doses. Sexuality and Harassment
- No member, management, staff personnel or any individual involved with the Empire Statesmen will make advances or comments of a sexual or threatening nature to another member of this organization.
- No member will participate in any hazing or initiation activities. Rehearsal Attendance· Members are expected to attend rehearsal in a timely fashion.
- If for any reason there may be a conflict, it is your responsibility to communicate with your Section Leader ahead of time.
- If you miss two consecutive rehearsals and fail to contact us, we will assume you are not interested in performing with the Empire Statesmen.
- We have been fortunate to have facilities to allow the corps to rehearse; it is our job to leave the facilities better than how we found it.
Uniforms
- It is your responsibility to keep your uniform clean and wrinkle free.
- Shoes must be polished and dirt free.
- Make sure all apparel is ready for competition before the weekend arrives; it is your responsibility to contact us for lost apparel.
- Gloves and bow ties are must with your uniform, if lost a fee will be charged to replace it. · Inspections will be performed.
- All uniforms will be returned after the DCA finals. Horns and Drums· It is your responsibility to maintain equipment; you're responsible for damage from misuse, theft or careless neglect.
- Equipment will be returned in the same condition, less normal wear.

- All equipment will be returned after the DCA finals. Please use mature judgment when with the corps or outside of Statesmen functions. Your actions can effect you and the image of this fine corps.
